My recent stay at Podravina Hotel in the charming town of Podravina left me with mixed feelings. As an architect with a penchant for historic architecture, I appreciated the old-world charm of the hotel's setting – a former communist establishment that exudes a certain nostalgic flair. The location, just a stone's throw away from the town center, was undeniably convenient, and the free parking provided added value to my stay.While the receptionists were friendly and helpful, and the freshly cooked food at the restaurant was excellent, I found the overall standard of the hotel somewhat lacking. The room rates were reasonable, around €20 per person per night including breakfast, but the quality of the breakfast did not quite meet three-star standards. As a vegetarian, options were limited, which seems to be a recurring theme throughout Croatia.If you are someone who values a blend of history and convenience over modern luxury, then Podravina Hotel might suit your tastes. However, if you are expecting a sleek, contemporary European standard hotel experience, you may be left wanting. In conclusion, for a short stay where budget is a concern, this hotel could be an acceptable choice, but if you prioritize luxury, you might want to explore other options in the area.
